The treatment offered by the psychiatric outpatient clinic is aimed at people with a mental illness who, due to the type, severity or duration of their illness, require special, hospital-based care and who are not adequately reached by other care structures. A central task of the PIA is to avoid hospital admissions, shorten inpatient treatment times and optimize treatment processes in order to ensure the social integration of patients.
